Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce & Trade

20th July, 2009

The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is pleased to host International Fuel Technology, Inc. (IFT) in Kingstown on 20th July. Their discussions will focus on climate change, environmental stewardship, energy security, and the use of alternative fuels. The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is interested in exploring how IFT's patented technology for increasing fuel efficiency can help the power sector improve fuel efficiency, decrease emissions, and improve operating performance.

Addressing energy security through increased fuel efficiency is one of the many steps the Government of Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is taking to address the threats of climate change in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Through the efforts of St. Vincent and the Grenadines' Ambassador to the United States, H.E. La Celia Prince, the Embassy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been cultivating a relationship with the Pataki-Cahill Group (PCG) of New York. As a result, Prime Minister Gonsalves met with former New York Governor George E. Pataki, Chairman of PCG to discuss potential areas of collaboration with St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The discussions included identifying leading energy technologies to fully explore and secure the solar, wind, biomass, geothermal and tidal resources of the islands, ensuring a better future for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

A delegation has arrived in St. Vincent to meet with representatives of the Government and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines' Electricity Services (VINLEC), and are also expected to tour the VINLEC generating facilities. The team comprises Dr. Sergio C. Trindade, IFT's Director of Science and Technology and Mr. Peter Smith, Managing Director for the Climate Change, Energy and the Environment Group at PCG. Dr. Trindade, a former United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Science and Technology, was co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 along with former USA Vice President Al Gore. Peter Smith, former President and CEO of the New York Energy Research and Development Authority, is a leading expert on renewable energy, energy markets, and state regulatory frameworks supporting renewable resources. On the agenda will be how the successful implementation of IFT's additive can assist SVG in protecting its environment, mitigate climate change, and bolster its eco-tourism industry.

International Fuel Technology, Inc. (symbol IFUE: OTC BB) is a technology company that has developed a liquid fuel additive formulation, DiesoLIFTTM 10, that has been scientifically proven to increase fuel economy and reduce harmful emissions when mixed with diesel fuel and bio-diesel fuel blends.
